
Basic Function
The municipal engineer will be responsible for day-to-day tasks such as municipal engineering, wastewater treatment, stormwater management, water supply and project management.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Develops plans for project, supervising and participating in project design
Designs and oversees a wide variety of projects related to municipal improvements
Conducts street designing and street needs studies
Complete technical analyses of the necessity of new streets, including modifications of existing streets
Maintain city-wide maps, plans and thoroughfare plan
Contribute traffic engineering principles to the design of traffic, signals, signs, lights and maintenance
Maintain databases per project managers’ direction
Research, write and edit technical reports and business correspondence
Spending time in the field offering engineering support and recommendations
Field review and/or site visits or field work as required
Attend project related meetings as required
Perform all other related duties as assigned

Oral and Written Communication
Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
Ability to perform a wide variety of difficult technical tasks with accuracy and speed under the pressure of time-sensitive deadlines
Ability to read reports, business correspondence and present information
Ability to multi-task and manage workload on various projects simultaneously
Public Presentation Skills
Familiarity with stormwater modeling software
Thorough knowledge and skill in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, MicroStation and OpenRoads
Experience
Knowledge of municipal engineering design principles and techniques including municipal engineering, wastewater, stormwater management and water supply and project management
Civil Engineering: 5 plus years on the job experience
Municipal engineering: 3 years on the job experience
Education/Training/Certification
B.S. in Civil Engineering
Continuing Education, certifications, and training paid for by TEC
Licenses
