TEC provided the City of Marietta with grant assistance by securing $1,171,685 in CMAQ funds through Triple W for this project. Our team was subsequently chosen to design a fiber optic signal system and traffic signal upgrades to 35 signalized intersections. This project was broken into three phases to accommodate the available CMAQ Funding. The project included a central based signal system, fiber optic interconnect, PTZ Cameras, vehicular signal head replacement, new signal controllers, spot detection upgrades, cabinet equipment, battery backup improvements, and curb ramp upgrades. The project also included spot locations for additional fiber connections to accommodate other city connections (parks, water treatment, wastewater treatment, etc.). Future expansion of the system is being evaluated for preemption, adaptive, and connected vehicle environments.
