TEC's Stop Sign Violation System System (SSVS) utilizes both radar and laser measurement technology to track speeds of vehicles as they approach stop sign controlled intersections. The SSV System is programmed to record vehicles on video that do not decelerate to below a set threshold (typically 5.0 mph), designated as a violation, as they passed through a stop sign controlled intersection. The SSVS can be mounted on a mobile trailer platform or existing roadside pole/structure. The SSV System is typically located between 150 and 250 feet from the intersection, ideally on the right side of the approach to be studies.

The information collected from SSVS can be used to study the intersection and develop recommendations for improvement.

For each violation, an event log is also stored containing speed data, violation data, time and date. All violation data can later be retrieved for review. SSVS also allows for motion detection recording to capture all site activity.
