TEC’s ReACTS System is an integration of video cameras, microphones, a digital video recorder, and network communication components. ReACTS responds to the sound of screeching tires or automobile collisions by digitally recording accidents and near-accidents from two separate cameras. The system is installed at signalized intersections and connects unobtrusively to the traffic signal equipment to provide information regarding the signal indications at the time of a recorded incident. ReACTS provides accident reconstruction capabilities with unbiased video.

Information from ReACTS is used to study the intersection and understand the cause of accidents. Data collected by the ReACTS System is used to develop recommendations to increase the safety and enhance the traffic flow at the intersection.

The ReACTS System has been customized by TEC to provide additional capabilities over existing accident recording systems. ReACTS provides real-time information to police and emergency personnel. Users can watch live, high quality, streaming video from the installation location to determine incident severity and manage emergency procedures. Users with a high speed internet connection can also view and download the archived incident videos.
