OHIO RIVER TRAIL
Client: City of Cincinnati, Ohio

TEC completed construction plans for a new 0.5-mile segment of the Ohio River Trail, a bike trail connecting downtown Cincinnati to Lunken Airport. This segment, from Congress to Carrel Street, provides a connection between two separate portions of the trail and provides direct access to the Ohio River from Lunken Airport. The plans also included a new traffic signal installation and segmental retaining walls. TEC successfully completed the plans under an accelerated schedule to comply with HUD funding requirements, allowing the project to move forward quickly to construction.

SR 60 (MUSKINGUM DRIVE) WIDENING
Client: City of Marietta, Ohio

TEC assisted the City of Marietta in acquiring a grant from the Ohio Traffic Safety Office to perform a safety study of SR 60, a high-crash corridor in the City of Marietta. The study identified access management needs and other recommended safety improvements. TEC then assisted the client in acquiring an OPWC grant to design and construct the recommended improvements, which consisted of widening 1,220’ of the roadway to provide a continuous center turn lane, exclusive turn lanes at the intersections and modified business drives for access management. The project also includes new sidewalks on both sides of the roadway. TEC was successful in completing the project construction plans under an accelerated schedule to coordinate with ongoing development in the area. TEC also worked with the City and Contractor during construction to solve field issues and recommend further improvements to enhance the final product.

GLENDALE VILLAGE SQUARE ENHANCEMENT
Client: Village of Glendale, Ohio

TEC assisted the Village of Glendale in successfully acquiring a Transportation Enhancement (TE) grant and American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funding through the OKI Regional Council of Governments for a renovation of the Village’s historic Village Square, a business district consisting of a variety of commercial and retail uses. TEC was responsible for project conceptualization, construction plan development, and cost estimates for the project, which consisted of new landscaped medians, expanded clay paver sidewalks, decorative lighting, signage, street furniture and fixtures. TEC assisted the Village to evaluate value engineering proposals and quickly solve field issues during construction.

WAYNE-MADISON SANITARY SEWER DESIGN
Client: City of Trenton, Ohio

TEC completed the design of a 750’ sanitary sewer extension along Wayne-Madison Road to service a future industrial site across from the Miller Brewery in the City of Trenton. TEC’s scope of work on the project included surveying, design, permitting, and construction assistance. Construction of the sewer extension was completed in 2010.

US 42 & TYLERSVILLE ROAD INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENT
Client: City of Mason, Ohio

This design project evolved from a safety study that TEC completed for this intersection in 2004. Upon completing the safety study, TEC helped Mason prepare an ODOT HSP application for the design of safety improvements at the intersection, which was approved for funding by ODOT. TEC was subsequently commissioned by the City of Mason to develop the design plans for this intersection improvement, which includes the design of a right turn lane on westbound Tylersville Road at its intersection with US 42, the redesign of a driveway access along US 42 and traffic signal upgrades necessary to accommodate the improvements. This highly developed area required extensive utility coordination including waterline, sanitary sewer, telephone and a fiber optic line. This intersection contains an exempt railroad crossing and traffic signal railroad preemption. This required coordination with the railroad owner. All work was completed under ODOT’s Project Development Process for Minor Projects.
