City of Cincinnati, OH:
Central Avenue Street Lighting and Traffic Signal Upgrades

TEC Engineering developed the design for decorative street lighting and traffic signals for the Central Avenue improvement in downtown Cincinnati in conjunction with the construction of the new Duke Energy Convention Center.

Project Results:
The design called for the City’s standard downtown equipment (poles, light fixtures, etc.) but with several interesting wrinkles. First, lights and signals needed to be adjusted at the south end due to low roadway overpasses. Second, the City requested no light poles on the Convention Center side of the street, so that block needed to be lit entirely from the other side. The five traffic signals included both spanwire and mast-arm type designs, and the lighting included both 40-foot poles with roadway luminaires, and shorter poles with decorative post-top luminaires.
